It's officially summer and the perfect time to visit Chautauqua County. Enjoy five lakes, rollings hills, Lake Erie Wine Country, and the 2015 program seasons at Chautauqua Institution, Lily Dale Assembly, and the Bemus Bay Pops. Celebrate Independence Day! Celebrate July 4th from Silver Creek to Jamestown with parties on the beach, in the park and on the street followed by fireworks displays. Around Chautauqua Lake, the day starts at 7am at the Lakewood Family YMCA and the 2015 Firecracker Run. Street sales, live music and food vendors start at 2 pm on Chautauqua Avenue, with fireworks at 10pm. In Mayville, the annual parade begins at 10 am, ending at Lakeside Park for daylong activities, food and live music until the flares create a ring of fire around the lake and the fireworks light up the sky at 10pm from Mayville as well as Midway State Park. Along Lake Erie, Dunkirk's Memorial Park is the central location for the city's celebration with food vendors and fireworks over the Harbor at dusk. Both Silver Creek and Sunset Bay in Irving also host all day celebrations. And, in Findley Lake, the celebration starts with a Duck Race and Chicken BBQ at noon. Afternoon and evening events include a boat parade at 2 pm, live music starting at 7 pm, flares at 9:30 pm and fireworks at 10pm. The weekend is full of events on the giant floating stage in Bemus Point. On Friday, July 3rd, Alter Ego takes the stage at 8:00 pm. Hotel California, an Eagles tribute band, plays Saturday at 8:00 pm followed by fireworks over the lake, and on Sunday, Scarecrow, a John Cougar Mellancamp Tribute, plays at 2:30 pm. All performances can be seen and heard from the water and lakeshore. Reserved tickets are available immediately in front of the stage. In addition to morning lectures and hundreds of Special Studies classes offered by Chautauqua Institution, several venues around Chautauqua County offer vacation learning experiences all year long. 2015 Chautauqua Institution Season Begins Saturday

CHAUTAUQUA – The 2015 summer season at Chautauqua Institution begins this weekend.

The Week One program line up at Chautauqua begins Saturday and concludes July 4. It will feature a variety of lectures, presentations and entertainment events by renowned guests such as journalists Charlie Rose and Nancy Gibbs, guitarist Sharon Isbin, former U.S. poet laureate Robert Pinsky and former U.S. senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

This year, the season begins Saturday and continues all through the summer to Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015.
