Labor Day through Veteran's Day Weekend

Plan a learning adventure during Chautauqua County's season long fall learning festival, the Colors of Chautauqua, from Labor Day to Veteran's Day. Take a class. Join a Farm to Table or Beer Pairing dinner. Engage in history with tours of century old cemeteries. The Colors of Chautauqua includes dozens of workshops on culinary, creative, and cultural topics as well as experiences like fly fishing or golf that can booked upon request. Enjoy a five-course dinner exclusively prepared with local ingredients during the fall Farm-to-Table Dinner prepared by Executive Chef Travis Bensink at Heirloom at the Athenaneum Hotel, September 19, 2014. Each of the five courses is paired with a local wine or beer. Learn about ingredients available in the county, how they are grown or raised, and how to source and acquire them all while enjoying an elegant culinary experience. For guests looking for a longer getaway, overnight packages are available on the Athenaeum Hotel's website. Then, from September 27-28, the grounds of Chautauqua will become a quilter's haven during Quilting at Chautauqua. Hundreds of quilts made by local artisans will be on display while vendors offer the latest in quilting supplies. There will also be hands-on classes for those wanting to learn new techniques.
WRFA-LP Station for the Arts Turns 10!

Jamestown's community radio station for the arts, WRFA-LP 107.9 celebrates its 10th anniversary, Saturday, September 13, 2014. The evening includes a special Rolling Hills Radio show and a concert by the 10,000 maniacs. The party starts at 5 pm in the Studio Theater on Third Street in Jamestown when Rolling Hills Radio host Ken Hardley welcomes longtime friends John Latini and Miche Fambro to the radio broadcast performed before a live audience. The event is free, but reservations are required. Then at 8 pm, Jamestown's own 10,000 Maniacs take the stage of the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts. The band's lineup includes original members, Steve Gustafson and Dennis Drew, longtime drummer Jerry Augustyniak, guitar player Jeff Erickson and their vocalist since 1994, Mary Ramsey. The Maniacs released the album, Music From The Motion Picture in 2013 and is currently working on their new album, Twice Told Tales. Tickets are $10 for most seats and $25 for limited premium seating. Reservations and tickets for both events can be made online.
