Fancy That: Wine & Cheese Weekend May 1 & 2

Every year some 500 or 600 people make their annual pilgrimage to the Lake Erie wine growing region to pay homage to fromage. But this is no ordinary wine and cheese party. Think award-winning artisan cheeses swirled into soups and desserts, broiled over miniature quiches, and baked into flavorful favorites like mac and cheese. Our winemakers will uncork their premium wines for the occasion, filling your glass with a buttery Chardonnay or a fruity Fredonia, or a savory Chambourcin, or ... whatever your pleasure.  The price of a ticket affords you ample portions of food and wine at each of 19 participating wineries along the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Wine Trail, a gourmet guide featuring recipes and wine-pairings, a commemorative wine glass. And a special gift will be waiting for you at your host winery.

We are proud to announce that for the first time ever we are partnering with Yancey's Fancy, maker of New York state's finest hand-crafted cheeses. In March, Yancey's Fancy won the "Best of Show" and a number of other top honors in the world's largest international competition for cheese.

TICKETS: $35/person, $60/couple for the weekend. Sunday only tickets are $30/person, $55/couple.

Don't delay. Wine & Cheese Weekend is always a sellout. Order tickets online, www.chautauquawinetrail.org, or call toll-free 1-877-326-6561.

My husband loves to drive, so it takes only the drop of a hat to send us sailing down the highway in search of a new adventure. But soon the grape hyacinths will release their fragrance in the vineyards, and the sailboats will reappear on Lake Erie, and all we will have to do is gather up our picnic basket and bottle of wine and head for our favorite overlook, not two miles from our home. We'd love for you to join us!

Sincerely,

Lisa Gensheimer
