Ski centers get an early jump on the season in western NY

Associated Press - November 21, 2008 3:15 AM ET ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Lake-effect snow blanketing the Southern Tier has some western New York ski centers getting an early start on the season. Holiday Valley opened Thursday, a week earlier than planned, after 28 inches of snow fell last weekend. Cockaigne Ski Area opens today. Peak-n-Peak plans to open next Wednesday.
