One of the attractions of Chautauqua County, N.Y., is the Bemus Bay Pops Orchestra. This summer, the orchestra celebrates 10 years on the giant stage that floats just off shore in Bemus Bay on Chautauqua Lake. Hear concerts every Sunday afternoon, a "Chautauqua Lake Idol" contest Monday evenings, Lake Night at the Movies on Tuesdays, Dancing Under the Stars on Thursdays, murder mystery and comedy on Fridays and Saturdays, and an anniversary bash on July 28. The seasonlong celebration concludes Labor Day weekend with the "Pops Finale and Fireworks. In the southwest corner of the state, Chautauqua County has the renowned Chautauqua Institution, the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center, the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Wine Trail, quaint Victorian villages, and a host of fairs, festivals, camping, outdoor and lakeside activities.
