Quilting classes

Quilting classes offered at Chautauqua Lake
10/5/2006 - MAYVILLE — Several new quilting classes are offered at Chautauqua Lake Central School this fall, beginning Oct. 16.

In the first class, participants will make a mini flower pot wall hanging using the pieced paper technique. The class meets Mondays, Oct. 16 and 23, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Instructor Susan Carlson explains that the fabric wall hanging is stabilized with paper, allowing the quilter to achieve crisp edges and sharp points when piecing the fabrics. A photograph of the finished wall hanging and complete information, including a list of supplies to be provided by the student, are available on the school Web site, http://www.clake.org./ Select the Services heading, then Community Ed. Registration forms are also available online, and printed information is available in the literature rack in the school’s main lobby at the center entrance to the building.

A Christmas wall hanging class is scheduled for Tuesdays, Nov. 14 and 28. A patchwork tote bag workshop will also be held in November, as will be a class to create a small quilt in November and December.

Knitting classes are also planned — either an introductory class or brush-up class for any level of experienced knitter. Those who are interested in knitting classes should call 753-5802 to express their preference for the introductory or brush-up class.

Pre-registration is required, through the district office only. No registrations will be accepted at the class. Space is limited and classes fill quickly. Call the Chautauqua Lake Community Relations office, 753-5802, for more information
